Don Shula didn't hold him in high esteem, either.<br /><br />I have watched some old NFL Today episodes from that season, and Jimmy the Greek speculated that Knox would go to Detroit before he decided to go to Buffalo. <br /><br />As for his replacement in LA, I read somewhere that the Rams were looking at Bill Walsh, but Carroll Rosenbloom said that he wanted to win now, so they decided to hire George Allen. That didn't make sense. They already were winning. And, I heard that the players didn't like Allen, which is why he was fired again. <br /><br />Imagine if they had Walsh and Montana. The Rams may have been the Team of the 80's, and who knows what would have happened to the Niners. <br /><br />That team was terrible when Eddie D replaced Joe Thomas with Walsh. If not Walsh, who else would have cleaned up that mess? It may have taken a lot longer for them to get back to where they were in the early-70's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
